ABOUT US
We are a couple based in New York City using our real life experience in remotely monitoring and caring for a sick parent who lives in the Philippines. Liza is an experienced nurse and Jonee is an experienced solutions architect and software applications developer.
We built and operate two distinct online services namely Kontaxio, a platform for managing the telematics of smart buildings, and Kontakme, a platform designed for securely sharing contact information.
The Kontaxio service portfolio was originally designed to handle the implementation of smart telematics services to the century old buildings in New York City. What prompted us to extend the service to the medical field were the new realities of life that we have personally experienced. We have identified 3 major challenges that had major impacts in our personal experience. These are the cost of hospitalization, the difficulty of transporting our sick parents in and out of clinics and hospitals to get treatment especially in very bad weather, and the availability of people who can assist our sick parent in our absence. The advancement in technology has allowed us to develop smarter ways of doing things. It is not cheap, it required time to develop it, and the cost savings and convenience it offers compared to the traditional way of doing things are definitely something that makes our solution worth sharing.
Kontaxio's Homecare Net is an online service initiative that will allow families the option to take care of their sick love ones at home instead of staying in the hospital. The service allows them to link up with medical doctors and consultants who can offer remote monitoring and medical advisory in extreme situations, such as lack of real-time monitoring tools, inability for the patient to travel due to natural disasters, and financial constraints. The service hopes to extend the reach of medical doctors and consultants outside the bounds of the hospital and medical clinics through trained caregivers.
We designed our system to support both real-time measurements and regular manual measurements which we call Live Data Synchronization or Live-Sync. Live-Sync involves a trained caregiver who is responsible for taking measurements on a regular basis or as needed using any available tools vs specialized gadgets. The measured data is then uploaded using a smartphone, a tablet or computer via the Internet, which can then be accessed by authorized medical consultants. The medical consultants can then send their inputs and treatment instructions to the caregiver via the service. The trained caregivers are essential in this service as they are the eyes, ears and hands of the service operation..
